2026 JUPS Student Awards

We are excited to congratulate two of our outstanding seniors for their achievements in the Justice and Peace Studies program! Both of the following students have demonstrated a special commitment to the field of Justice and Peace Studies throughout their time at Georgetown.

Christina Gomes was chosen for the 2026 Mark Lance Award for her commitment to social justice activism and grassroots organizing. She is a double major in Justice and Peace Studies and English. Christina has dedicated much of her time at Georgetown to being a coordinator and tutor for the DC Schools Project, a Summer Immigrant Rights Advocacy intern, a peer tutor at the Writing Center, and a Lauinger Library student assistant. Congratulations, Christina!

Lily Odenwelder was chosen for the 2026 McSorley Award for her commitment to just causes through research, scholarship, and service. Lily is a Global Health major with minors in Justice and Peace Studies and Global Human Development Studies, and one of our JUPS Student Program Assistants! Lily has dedicated much of her time at Georgetown to working at the Women’s Center, leading and facilitating a mentorship program for high school girls, volunteering at Legal Aid and the Washington English Center, and playing on the Women’s Ultimate Frisbee team. Congratulations, Lily!
