JUPS Hosts Student Organizing Panel Under New Trump Administration

On February 20, 2025, about one month since Trump’s inauguration, the Justice and Peace Studies Program (JUPS) hosted a student organizing panel with Miranda Xiong (CAS ’25) from Georgetown RA Coalition and Georgetown Coalition for Workers’ Rights, Miya Yoshida (SFS ’28) and Sydney Hudson (SOH ’26) from H*yas for Choice, Raphaella Alioto Grace (CAS ’28) from Students Demand Action, and emeritus Professor Mark Lance. The panel discussed what it is like to organize in light of recent administration changes that have impacted their respective organizations.
Student organizing has been an important facet of JUPS culture and programming. It was a joy for the program to be able to host a space for like minded peers and build community. The event was also highlighted by The Hoya in an article titled: Activists Implore GU to Remain Committed to Activism During Trump Era.
