Minor in JUPS

Requirements for the Minor

The Justice and Peace Studies Minor at Georgetown comprises six courses: 3 core courses and 3 electives. All core courses must be taken at Georgetown. The core courses include:

In addition to the core courses, students who want to minor in Justice and Peace Studies must take three electives offered by the Justice and Peace Studies Program, with the option of one of the electives from courses that are x-listed (JUPS attribute) with the program. It is also possible to bundle three JUPS 1-credit modules together to count as one in-house elective.

Declaring the Minor

Students may declare a minor in Justice and Peace Studies at any point before March 1st of their sophomore year by completing a short application on the JUPS website. They will then be notified via email of the approval. Interested students can contact the Program Director for any questions about declaring a minor.

Study Abroad

The Justice and Peace Studies (JUPS) minors may take one elective course during Study Abroad that can count toward the minor. The Director of the Program will evaluate the course upon review of the syllabus and the study abroad proposal. Students are encouraged to contact (via email or request a meeting during advising & office hours) the JUPS Program Director by sending the courses and study abroad proposals early and ahead of the deadline for study abroad proposals for evaluation and approval.

Transfer Students

Transfer students work with their Dean and the JUPS Program Director to determine whether courses from their previous institution may be accepted for credit toward the JUPS minor.
