Notes from the field: JUPS Students’ Summer Research

Three Justice and Peace Studies students presented their summer research projects at the 2026 Global Social Justice Research Symposium, hosted by the Center for Social Justice Research, Teaching & Service and the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace & World Affairs at Georgetown University.

In the first panel, titled “Community in Action: Belonging, Empowerment, and Social Justice,” JUPS minor Myha Hill (SOH ’28) and JUPS major Maya Mohosin (CAS ’27) presented their research findings from the Education and Social Justice Fellowship. They both spent several weeks in Puerto Rico over the summer doing separate research projects.

In the second panel, titled “Research in Times of Crisis: Heritage, Health, and Humanitarianism” and moderated by JUPS Professor Helal Khan, JUPS minor Rachel Rochford presented her findings from her Laidlaw Scholarship.
