An Innovative Final Project: Putting “Death Eaters” on Trial

JUPS Professor Brian Kritz’s class, “Human Rights and Justice”, students participated in a creative and innovative final project: a Harry Potter-themed mock trial. Many of the infamous “Death Eaters” were put on trial in front of the International Criminal Court (ICC), and using what they had learned about the legal definitions of genocide, some students prosecuted the “defendants” for their human rights violations while other students served as attorneys arguing for their defense. The last group of students served as the judges of the ICC. Many are already all set to go to law school if they want to!
